Benny Benack III: The Magic of Manhattan

Emmy-nominated trumpeter and crooner Benny Benack III, known for his work with Postmodern Jukebox and to SFJAZZ audiences for his sold-out 2024-25 Season Broadway tribute Some Enchanted Evening, presents his newest program The Magic of Manhattan. The show highlights the songs and artists that have defined the musical heartbeat of New York City, from Broadway to 52nd Street.

Hailing from an illustrious musical family going back three generations, Benack was ranked #1 Rising Star Male Jazz Vocalist and #8 Rising Star Trumpeter in DownBeat’s 2024 Critic’s Poll and has released a trio of lauded albums with 2017’s One of a Kind, 2020’s A Lot of Livin’ to Do, and 2023’s Third Time’s the Charm. He has performed as part of Christian McBride’s Big Band and lent his smoldering trumpet tone to work with Ann Hampton Callaway, Josh Groban, and Jon Batiste’s Stay Human. 

Benack brings the requisite panache to a jazz-inspired journey through New York’s Golden Age and beyond, from Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind” to Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York, and from the bright lights of the Great White Way to the jazz clubs of midtown.
